"The Beginning" - January 15, 1908

On a historic date, Wednesday, January 15, 1908, in Miner Hall on the campus of Howard University, a sisterhood was created.  Led by a guided "spirit" named
Ethel Hedgeman-Lyle, eight other women created an organization that would
surpass throughout the test of time.  The name of that organization was
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
