To begin the program we had a guest speaker, George Ferguson, which was a genealogist who spoke to give the history of the Black family and gave an educated opinion on how similar families have faced certain situations, and how such scenarios have directly impacted the Black family. We then had two hosts, one represented from each organization to guide the interactive part of the program. The audience was responsible for finding solutions to problems faced within black families. The audience was divided into groups, or “families”. Each group was given a family profile for example single parent; none of the parents have a college education. Different scenarios, for instance a family member being diagnosed with cancer, that was presented from a power point presentation. Each family had to respond with how they would handle the situation given their different profiles.
