History of the Iota Phi Chapter

at Winthrop University

Alpha Kappa Psi Professional  Business Fraternity is the nation's oldest professional business fraternity.  It was established in 1904 at New York University; today it is among the twenty largest national college fraternities and has over 170,000 brothers. 

In the Fall of 1977, representatives from the national office of AKPsi came to Winthrop to offer business students the chance to start a chapter of the fraternity.  Students in the School of Business recognized the benefits associated with having an Alpha Kappa Psi chapter at Winthrop and decided to start a chapter. 

On April 30, 1978, the Iota Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi was installed on our campus.
