WINTHROP CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION CONSTITUTION BYLAWS ARTICLE I NAME The name of the organization shall be: The Winthrop Chinese Martial Arts Association ARTICLE II PURPOSE The purpose of the organization shall be: To learn the Chinese martial arts and keep the body and mind in shape. ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP 1. Membership in the organization shall be open to anyone who has an interest in learning martial arts, chinese history and philosphy. 2. Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected student officer positions in the campus-recognized chapter or group may not be limited on the basis of race, sex, color, age, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental handicap, ancestry or medical condition, except as explicitly exempted in federal law. ARTICLE IV OFFICERS & DUTIES 1. The officers of this organization shall be: President: Vice-President: Secretary: Treasurer: 2. To be eligible for office, candidates must be regularly enrolled students at Winthrop University. 3. Nominations for office shall occur: Beginning or end of each Semester, depending on circumstance. The candidate must fill out an officer application and it must be approved by the current officers. 4. Officers shall appointed during the semester in the event that previous officers are not performing their officer duties . 5. The term of office shall be for one semester or a year. 6. Officers may be removed from office by: if they do not do their duties and they are voted out. 7. The duties of the officers shall be: President- To help teach the martial arts, make sure everybody knows when meetings and elections are. He/She will be at the table at the club and organizations fair and promote the club. Vice-President- Shall assist the President in everything he/she does. If anyone needs help he/she will ask the Vice-President. If anybody has problems they first talk to the Vice-President then to the President. Secretary-Keeps track of paperwork, events and take roll. Makes sure the website is maintained. Treasurer- Will take care of the fees and making sure everybody pays their dues. Whenever fundraisers come along he/she will put them together with the assistance of the other officers. ARTICLE V FUNDING 1. The organization shall be funded through the following means: membership dues and school allocations 2. All money transactions must be approved by: all of the officers. ARTICLE VI MEETINGS 1. Regular meetings and events concerning the organization shall be posted on the website. 2. Special meetings may be called by: President and Instructor/teacher. 3. Agendas for meetings shall be provided by the Instructors or officers. ARTICLE VII AMENDMENT OF BYLAWS These bylaws may be amended at any regular meeting of the organization by a two-thirds vote or at the President's discretion, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular meeting or has been discussed among the officers and instructors.
