Modern dance is a fairly new dance style.

It was created in the early 20th century in an attempt to rebel against ballet. 

Modern's main difference from any other style is that there are not structured steps.  Most of the dances are used to tell a story or express an emotion rather than repeat learned steps.

Martha Graham is considered the pioneer of modern dance.

Modern is my favorite style of dance because there is so much passion.
