FOL Member/Financial Report Update

 (Editor’s Note:  Jim McGeorge’s Membership Report reflects the new Friends of Liberia membership policy (see the Chair Report and / or the FOL website for further information and rationale).  Jim’s report shows membership numbers as of March 2004)

Membership
Anyone who contributes $40 or more per calendar year to Friends of Liberia will be a member.  This is a change to the membership structure approved by the FOL Board of Trustees.  Therefore reminders of “dues date” will not be sent to you in the future.  Members can use the Holiday Appeal letter that will be mailed with the USPS as a “dues date” reminder.  Of course, you may “officially” become a member at any time through your generous donations.

 

Change of Address
Please remember to notify Friends of Liberia if your address changes.  This will help us to maintain contact with you, so that we can provide you with FOL news. 

 

 Membership News
As of March 1, 2004, there are over 1,400 members/families on the FOL mailing list.  In addition, FOL is currently contacting over 230 Pepperbirds (Former employees and dependents who lived in Liberia and worked at Firestone, Mobil, Pan Am, etc.) to invite them to become members of FOL.

 During 2003, FOL received notification that the following members have died:  Marjorie F. Bishop, Maxine Crews, Deanna Issacson and Julius Walker.

 

Membership Response
The September 2003 Liberia Emergency Relief Appeal via e-mail from Liberia News generated 27 donations.  Over 115 FOL members, families and friends responded to FOL’s mailing appeal in December 2003 with contributions.  Everyone’s generous response to support the work of FOL is greatly appreciated.
