Master of Arts in
Teaching The Master of
Arts in Teaching program in the Department of English encourages
students to acquire the broad range of literary knowledge and
language arts skills that characterize successful Secondary School
English teachers. The program requires that you complete 16 hours in
ENGL or WRIT courses at the 500-600 level, in the areas specified by
the state of South Carolina and the National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) for initial
certification. These hours include content courses, teaching
methods, and field experiences. These 15 hours form the Content Area
Core of your program. You will also need to complete requirements in
the College of Education; currently these are
