I am writing to tell you about an invitational art exhibition in Lenoir, North Carolina. In 2005, Helping Hands Clinic, a free medical clinic in Lenoir, NC partnered with a Caldwell County arts magnet school for a wall mural to be painted at the Clinic. In conjunction with the Caldwell County Arts Council, what started as a wall mural also became a photography project focusing on the volunteers and clients of Helping Hands Clinic. For the official unveiling of the mural and photography exhibition, the Clinic is holding an invitational art exhibition with a theme of Art & Healing. A close friend of mine, Lou Hill, is the Director of Helping Hands Clinic and I am a graduate student working on a degree in Arts Administration. Aware of my interest in the arts in York County, Ms. Hill suggested that I invite artists from the York County area to submit works to the Art & Healing Exhibition. We are hoping this project will start a partnership between York and Caldwell County artists and that a themed exhibition could be held next year at a not-for-profit agency in York County. The theme of art and healing is open to the artist’s own interpretation. All two and three dimensional media are invited. Works may be marked for sale with a 25% commission retained on all sales by Helping Hands Clinic. The deadline for York County area artists to submit artwork is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Please contact me concerning the pick up or delivery of your artwork. The Opening Reception for the Art & Healing Exhibition, wall mural, and photography exhibition at the Helping Hands Clinic in Lenoir, NC will be Friday, August 4th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thank you for taking into consideration being a part of this exhibition. Sincerely,
