ALUMNI NEWS How good we were, how great we are now, and how much greater we will be at the next Alumni Game.
April 14, 2012-Rock Hill, SC. What a great day to be an Eagle and former Eagle. The weather was perfect and the turn out good. Although we were missing about 15 former players who were involved in coaching duties, playing professionally, weddings, and two running the Boston Marathon, we still had 56 play in the game and a total of 63 attend the event. With friends and family we had about 80 attend the reception. The reception was held at Fast Lane and Butch and Mike certainly did a good job taking care of us. It was great to see former players we haven't seen in 5, 10 and 15 years. We had players from 18 years old, to several well into their 50's. Defending was optional for this game and so was running for many. Is was great to hear how good all the players were when they played for Winthrop and how much better they have gotten. We had players from as far away as Brazil to Florida to California. There seemed to be many old relationships renewed, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. It always amazes me to see how guys who were 18 years old have grown so much. It really is a good feeling to see how much everyone has grown and is successful in what they do. Thanks for the good time and a walk down memory lane.

PHOTOS FROM ALUMNI WEEKEND "2008" 4-13-08 ROCK HILL, SC.....Saturday, April 12 started out with rain. By 1:00 the rain stopped and it was about 68 degrees with the sun popping out. It turned out to be a great day. We had just over 70 attend the Alumni gathering. We had 46 players that participated in the game. There were four teams and we played a round robin format with a championship game and third place game. The games were competitive with the Grey team winning the championship 2-0 over the Gold team and ended up 3-0-1. From 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM was a reception at McHales Irish Pub on Main Street. McHales really took care of us once again this year. I think everyone enjoyed the atmosphere. In turned out to be a great day and I think everyone had a good time. We hold this Alumni gathering and game every two years. We had players return from as far away as San Diego, CA, Toronto, Canada, Miami, Fl, Willingboro, NJ to London, England.
