United Chinese Fellowship organized a cookout party for Winthrop Chinese students. Students enjoyed activities of archery, hayride, and canoeing.

Forty-seven undergraduate Chinese students arrived to Winthrop Campus today. The total number of Winthrop international students from China reached a historical high of approximately 100.

Chuan Gao, MBA student, has been accepted by Wake Forest University for Ph.D. program. He received a full graduate assistantship.

 

Yuyan Qin has been accepted by five top universities: Case Western Reserve University, Purdue University West Lafayette, University of Maryland College Park, University of Denver, and University of Tennessee for Master's program. She received scholarship from Case Western Reserve University and a full graduate assistantship from University of Tennessee.

 

Other Chinese students have been accepted by prestigious universities such as Chinese University Hong Kong, Texas A&M University, Southern Methodist University, University of Maryland College Park, Clemson University, University of South Carolina Columbia, Denver University, DePaul University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, St. John's University New York, Illinois State University, University of Texas Arlington, University of Houston, and Winthrop University.

 

Lingjun Xu has accepted a job offer by Schaeffler Group, USA, a top manufacturing company in the world. The company is only a few miles from Winthrop University.

 

Yuan Fang, a Winthrop graduate of May 2011, is going to receive a Master's degree from SUNY Albany. She has been accepted by SUNY Albany for Ph.D. program of Economics with a full graduate assistantship.

Cong Wang started his first permanent job and his first permanent job in the US today. He is now an Assurance Associate at PWC (one of the "Big 4" accounting firms of US), Charlotte. His American Dream has come true. He said, "The USA is a country where you can rise from nothing."

Jiaying Ling, Sijia Qin, Kym Qian, and Shuyuan Wang got Bachelor's degrees. Jiaying Ling is going to Clemson University for Master's program of accounting. Sijia Qin was the Cum Laude.

Cong Wang, Difei Zhou, and Xi Li got MBA degree. Cong Wang will work for PWC (a Big 4 accounting firm) as an Assurance Associate, and Difei Zhou will work for Industrial Test Systems as a Financial Assistant. Xi Li passed all four parts of CPA exam with exceptionally high scores.

Thirty-one undergraduate Chinese students and eighteen graduate Chinese students joined Winthrop student body this semester. The total number of Winthrop international students from China reached a historical high of 75.

A group of thirty Chinese students received Bachelor's degrees today. Seventeen of them were the honor graduates. Chaney Qian was the Summa Cum Laude. Yuan Fang, Ximeng Ma, and Yiqiu Peng were the Magna Cum Laude. Qi Chen, Yuying Du, Jie Lei, Liyan Lin, Chen Liu, Xin Qi, Sai Shi, Ximeng Sun, Miao Wang, Shuai Wu, Yinghua Xu, Jiamin Zha, and Jing Zhang were Cum Laude.

A group of thirty-two people left Winthrop to Charlotte for Chinese New Year Gala hosted by Chinese-American Association of Charlotte. Three Winthrop Chinese Students performed in the shows.

Yunchen Li, our only undergraduate member who graduated in December 2010, was granted a diploma cum laude.

 

In fall 2010, Yuan Fang, Siye Liu, Xin Qi, Chaney Qian, Yuyan Qin, Sai Shi, Shuai Wu, and Sha Zhu got on the President's List, and Qi Chen, Yuying Du, Jun Fang, Jie Lei, Jiaying Ling, Chen Liu, Chenxi Liu, Yiqiu Peng, Yicen Shen, Xinmeng Sun, Miao Wang, Yinghua Xu, Jiamin Zha, Jing Zhang, and Chen Zhu on the Dean's List. Congratulations!

In the spirit of learning from each other, the Chinese students prepared a celebration of their culture and talents as a part of their observation of National Day. National Day (October 1, 1949, when the new government of the  People’s Republic of China was announced publically) is a part of a week-long celebration. On Tuesday, October 5 at 11:00 am in Whitton, a group of Chinese students introduced to WU community their culture and presented some musical and other entertaining selections.
