WINR-FM/DT is Winthrop University's student-run radio station that broadcasts from the second-floor studios in Johnson Hall, home of the Winthrop University Department of Mass Communication. Student volunteers apply for air shifts each fall semester and on an as-needed basis.

The station is managed by a student management group who receives advice and guidance from a faculty advisor.

Experience at a station like WINR-FM/DT is especially important for students who want to enter professional radio. Many of today’s automated radio stations no longer have positions in which entry-level employees can gain experience using and becoming comfortable with an on air console.
