About us

Resident Students' Association (RSA) is a unique student-run organization that exists to improve the quality of life of Winthrop University residential students by offering programs based on students' interests, as well as promoting a safe, supportive, and welcoming community.

As a creative and dynamic branch of the Department of Residence Life that serves the residents of the university, RSA addresses the problems, concerns, and questions that resident students may have, along with representing the collective interests of Winthrop's resident students to the Council of Student Leaders (CSL).

RSA also provides social and educational events for individual residence halls and the college as a whole by organizing community building activities with other organizations on campus, and actively promoting diversity in activities and policies.

One opportunity for involvement sponsored by RSA is Hall Council which gives residential students from all backgrounds a chance to be a leader within their residence hall. Every residence hall has a hall council which provides residents with ample opportunity to gain leadership experience beginning in their first semester. Each hall council is responsible for addressing concerns in their hall and for putting on social and educational programs for their peers much like RSA does which makes it a stepping stone toward bigger leadership opportunities.
