The purpose of the club is to enjoy Spanish culture, provide opportunities to improve members' Spanish language skills, and promote understanding and appreciation of the Spanish speaking countries and cultures within the club and on campus.
Club activities include conversations in Spanish, playing games in Spanish, reading and translating Spanish articles, as well as club members providing presentations.
The Club also has fund-raisers to support the Spanish Film Series.
The Spanish Club Tertulia will host the film Ruben Blades Is Not My Name / Yo no me llamo Ruben Blades on the Winthrop University campus October 1, 2019 in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
In the spring of 2020 the club will host the film Art Poetry in celebration of National Foreign Language Week.
The Spanish Club Tertulia meets every Thursday during the regular fall and spring semesters in Kinard 201, from 11am until noon.
Students of all Spanish-speaking skill levels are welcome.
